Aussie electric vehicles powered by the sun
What is SEVA?
SEVA is a range of vehicles, electrically driven, using battery and solar power
A battery EV car with solar range extender
A hydro-foiling battery electric water craft
A recumbent style ebike with solar battery charging
Auto - Prelim design complete; 3D print models for aero testing and design evaluation.
Boat - Redesign of Auto with hull underside and front steer hydrofoil and rear 'winged' electric propeller. Typical use scenario is as 4 person water taxi.
Cycle - Recumbent style bike now conceived in 'leaning trike' format, easily disassembled and packaged for transport; currently 15.5kg without battery!

History & DEVELOPMENT
An M.Eng thesis investigating BEV charging possibilities when unable to directly connect to a charger, brought about a simulated case study of a 2015 Nissan LEAF, with its roof covered in solar cells, performing a 15km daily commute, and always parked uncovered outdoors. This was geolocated in Melbourne, Australia and using the appropriate insolation, it was shown the received solar energy could indeed, power the car over a years use.
An association with the Aurora Solar Car group - winners of the World Solar Challenge Race from Darwin to Adelaide - led to a further understanding of the requirements of a successful solar EV, namely, extremely lightweight and efficient design (electrically and aerodynamically), focussed on the collection of the maximum suns energy within the form of a road legal vehicle.

Why Solar(EV)Aus?
SEVA vehicles are designed for Australian conditions and for Australian needs.
In the continent with the greatest solar exposure, SEVA seeks to utilise the worlds most sustainable, emissions free energy source, in vehicles powered by high efficiency, minimal loss electric motors.
